Our Need to Compete Is the Root of Today’s Hostility

With insight that comes from 180-degree vision, as discussed within the author’s book Leadership: Where business Ethics Begin, is an understanding that is without judgement and that comes from an increased awareness. What is that epiphany? It is an understanding of why, between the innate desire and ability to compete and the role our “internal double standard” plays in projecting what we see — as well as the very natural “conflict of interest” that spontaneously arises– hostility can arise. It is our internal double standard that drives our logic, decision-making, and our narrow definition of appropriateness (if we are primarily experiencing one of the negative tendencies of the heart at the moment) and which exists below our conscious mind activity (until realized with 180-degree vision and expanding awareness). All of this is at the root cause of the hostility developing within our political culture and the hatred within it.
